A Woodland in Wiltshire | DD Hammock Camp
Mid-July 2026
It had been a while since I’d spent a night in a decent woodland, and it had also been a while since I’d used the DD Hammock.
So, with that in mind, I headed to a woodland in Wiltshire to find a spot for the night.
Here is the YouTube link to the kit video showing everything I took: What I Packed for a Lightweight Hammock Camp | Wiltshire Woodland
It was a Thursday afternoon when I arrived, and the woodland was absolutely stunningl. It’s home to a mix of young and mature native trees, with a sprinkling of plantation trees here and there.
The birdlife was incredible. I have never seen so many birds, or heard so much birdsong, in a woodland for a very long time. I saw deer and later an owl swooping through the canopy.
There are a few main tracks through the woodland, along with many smaller trails that branch off deeper into the trees.
I eventually found a spot that was clear of bracken, brambles and any potential nesting sites. The ground was bare and covered with dry leaves.
I only saw a handful of people during my visit: a couple out jogging and one man riding a mountain bike.
