    Camp Notes

    Not every camp becomes a blog post.

    Some are just a photo, a lesson learned, a sunrise view or a few thoughts from a night outdoors.

  • Forest Camp Dorset, Phoxx 1V2 Camp

    Early June 2025

    A lovely, quiet forest and only a 15–20 minute walk from plenty of free on-street parking in Puddletown.

    It’s a fairly large area with a mixture of heathland and forested sections, including some big old fir trees with plantation areas too.

  • Wareham Dorset, Phoxx 1V2 Camp

    Late December 2025

    I didn’t feel like travelling far, but I did feel like I wanted a night out under the stars, so headed to a local forest a short distance away.

    A big reason was to go trig bagging, and more specifically – to bag the very green trig point – TP3411- Gore Heath, then find a spot for the night and make camp.

    Studland, Dorset – Nortent Skjul Bivvi Camp

    Mid- June 2026

    This trip reminded me that sometimes plans go wrong.

    I have camped on both sides of the peninsula before and know the area quite well. This time, however, plenty didn’t go to plan.

  • Hampshire Forest Camp- DD Hammock

    Late June 2024

    For this camp, I had planned to follow the Lymington River until I found a suitable spot along the bank to hang the hammock.

    That all changed when I encountered a fence and private land. The river disappeared and I couldn’t find a way around the fence in the time I had left, so I started to look for alternatives.
