A hill In Devon: Nortent Skjul Bivvi Camp
Early April 2025
I spotted this raised strip of forest and heathland on Google Maps and decided to check it out.
It sits a couple of hundred metres above sea level and offers some great views. It’s within walking distance of town, which has public transport links and plenty of free on-street parking. The area also has two trig points…

A Common In Surrey: OEX Phoxx 1V2 Camp
Late March 2025
I found Common and its neighbouring nature reserve, on Google Maps and thought they looked like promising spots.
It’s surrounded by villages and roads, all offering free on-road parking. It’s also home to a hill trig point. These parking spots provide easy and direct access to the common.

Holt Heath West Moors, Dorset
Mid – January 2025
The reserve is a low-lying heathland, split into two sections by a road. Some areas are particularly wet, with a raised boardwalk allowing passage over the boggiest parts. The sections I explored were muddy and had few trees.
