      Osmington White Horse, Osmington Dorset
      Mid September 2025

This was an awesome spot – my camp was pretty much above the head of George III on the Osmington White Horse.

I was lucky enough to have a beautiful evening, an even better sunrise and managed to bag the White Horse Hill trig point.

From the top, the view down towards Weymouth – all lit up with the harbour below is fantastic. I was also fortunate to have the whole hill to myself and didn’t see another soul all night.

There are plenty of grassy areas in and around the hill offering some great camping spots.
I chose my pitch because it was more secluded than it first looked and set back from the main path that runs along the South Dorset Ridgeway.

      Getting there:
I parked on Church Lane in Osmington Mills, just off the A353. The lane gets narrower the further down you go but there are a few places to park. I had planned to park in a specific spot, but when I arrived there were signs asking not to park there. They weren’t official signs, but I chose to not stop there.

Just follow Church Lane – it leads straight onto the hill. Couldn’t be easier.

      Heads up:
No issues at all during my stay. Good phone and internet signal.
