New Forest, Sway: OEX Phoxx 1v2 Tent Setup

      Late November 2025

Here is the YouTube link to the kit video of everything I took with me, include my shelter of the OEX Phoxx 1v2 tent: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nTbMTbXD8JA

I forgot to upload this one at the time. It was a spur of the moment camp, on a clear, sub-zero night. I parked up on the edge of Sway and headed to Wiverley Inclosure for a nice woodland camp. I managed to bag the trig point TP6280 – Sway on the way. I’ve camped close to this area before, but never in the woodland.

The place was busy with walkers and horse riders. Worst of all, there was no phone or internet signal in the dips and low areas around the woodland, or in the woodland itself.

I need the internet, as it’s my source of work and reading. I headed back the way I came and took a risk by setting up in the gorse bushes between Wilverley Road and Sway. I found a spot deep in the labyrinth of gorse, in a dead end that required climbing through it to reach. I took the Phoxx 1v2 and it has a very low profile, so I was confident a local dog walker wouldn’t spot the tent, or head that way.

      Getting there:

I parked in a spot along Pitmore Lane, which was close to some properties and free. I won’t leave my car parked overnight in one of the New Forest car parks.

      Heads up:

Apart from the no internet in the woodland area of Wilverley Inclosure, the area I camped in has many locals walking their dogs. You can see them wandering around at night with their torches.
