Chesil Beach, Portland, Dorset.
Early July 2024
The plan was to sleep on the highest point between the sea and the lagoon but the cold wind coming off of the sea along with the sea spray put an end to it.
I took shelter at the lowest point as I could and hid away from the wind and next to the lagoon.

Getting There:
I walked from Weymouth train station which is about 3.5 miles / 5.6 km. There’s a car park at the Chesil Visitor’s Centre and I will include an image of the sign and prices in the comments.
I’ve seen many night time anglers on YouTube and the car parking charges have charges up to 10 hours and 24 hours along with a separate charge for motorhome and vans. So, I don’t think staying over night is an issue.
Heads up:
I expected to have to walk further down the beach to get away from people but the night I camped it was cold and windy. A few anglers around and they were on the beach side and close to the car park.
There was a section fenced off on the lagoon side because of nesting birds. No access between April and August. I’ll include an image of this in the comments. I camped further down the beach away from the nesting ground and away from the huts which look like they belong to the fishing guys with boats and moorings.
Apart from the wind, it was a very quiet night and I saw no one in the area camped in the whole time I was there.
