Blackensford Brook, North Oakley Inclosure, Burley, New Forest, Hampshire.
Early May 2024
I wanted to camp on some heathland and saw this area some time ago from the nearby A31 dual carriageway.
Undisturbed and I was treated to a beautiful misty sunrise in the morning.
Coordinates:
50°51’37.9″N 1°41’14.8″W
Getting there:
I got the train to Brockenhurst and walked the 8.5 miles / 13.6 km there. Seems there is no access by road as the closest roads are private and have locked gates.
Heads up:
Saw a 4×4 drive around at about 20:00. It was slow and sensible and followed a few of the tracks around the area. It seemed to appear via the subways that led under the A31.
Plenty of midges and other biting flies at dusk. I got savaged.

I read in some local papers that extra patrols are taking place in the area of the forest, due to someone killing deer. This could be reason for the 4×4 driving around.
