Arne Nature Reserve Wareham Dorset.
29th October 2022.
A quick camp on this wet and windy late October night.
I came across this rundown bird hide a long time ago and promised to return.
I had a litter pick around the hide and found a plastic bottle, a drinks’ can and some pallet strapping.
Arne is at risk of fire and has plenty of warning signs.

Getting there:
I got the train to Wareham and walked the 3.4 miles / 5.4 km.
Heads up:
In the summer, there are organised and led nature walks around the reserve which finish late into the evening.
I entered via the only road in and out of Arne at around 18:00. Visitors and staff were still leaving so I made sure that I was not seen as I had a large backpack and I think my intentions were obvious.
There are other routes in via the heathland but I took the road as it was getting dark and it was quicker.
I didn’t have to stay on the road for long before I was able to access the heathland.
In summer, Arne and the surrounding areas which are mainly heathland are very dry and have fire warning.
