A Dorset Heathland | Phoxx 1v2 Tent Wild Camp
Mid-autumn 2026
it had been well over a year since my last visit to this area. I knew that the parts I was familiar with contained a few clusters of trees, plenty of boggy areas and low-level heathland. I really thought the bivvi would be better for this camp because of its low profile in such an open area.
The weather was the biggest factor in my decision to take the Phoxx 1v2, as I didn’t know the whole area and I was a little worried about not being able to find a spot or about sticking out like a sore thumb.
The tent turned out to be the perfect choice. I found plenty of flat, grassy spots hidden behind large gorse bushes, and it poured down all night. I find the tent a more comfortable space than a bivvi in these conditions.
I did have the life scared out of me by a couple of joggers very late in the evening, just as I was about to set up. I had laid out the sleeping mat and put my bag on the ground, ready to set up, when two runners came out of the dark and through the gorse.
One of them apologised for scaring me. I then had second thoughts about moving, but it was too dark, so I decided to stay put.
I had a good night and packed up early in the morning while it was still dark and in between rain showers.
Good phone and internet signal
