Stag Park near Beaulieu Road New Forest
Mid November 2024
A quick night out under an almost full moon.
I jumped off the train at Beaulieu Road in the New Forest and headed straight to Stag Park which is less than 1 mile/ 1.6 km from the station.
Saw a patch of grass on Google map but on arrival, it seemed it was an area used by a farm as there were hay bales in it and I avoided it.
Woods were nice and sloped off to low-lying boggy areas. I settled for the edge of the woodland and near some widow makers. I checked the best I could for signs of fallen branches and possible hazards.
The moon light lit up the area and there were plenty of animal movements and noises during the night.

Getting there:
I got the train to Beaulieu Road station which isn’t a main stop and doesn’t have any ticket machines.
There’s a forestry commission car park called Shatterford which is located next to the train station and the path from there leads to Stag Park.
On the map, I saw a road running through Stag Park and there were some parking spaces along the road.
Heads Up:
A good internet connection.
Plenty of boggy ground around the area, mainly on the heather and low-lying areas and some of the woodland was boggy in parts.
I arrived at 16:30 and it was getting dark. I didn’t see anyone between getting off of the train and walking to Stag Park.
I was packed up and left just after 7 am and passed a dog walker on the way back to the station.
